Laying Tile
Amy's parents came up to help us lay the tile in the house over the Labor Day weekend. We worked from about 8am till 8pm from Thursday till Tuesday and finished up the grouting on Wednesday morning. What a project, but the tile looks AWESOME!
Tile Prep
Amy's folks are comin up to help us lay tile downstairs so we're working hard to get all the prep work done before they get here. Finishing the fridge closet framing, removing carpet, repairing bad areas in the floor, etc.
Aidaris' Birthday 2007
The day after Amy got back from Vegas she made a roulade cake for Adriana's birthday, and then another cake for Aidaris' birthday a week later. She's a baking machine!
The Mathis Vegas Vacation
To celebrate Alina's 21st birthday, the Mathis' planned a Vegas vacation. I didn't have enough time off available to go, but I sure enjoyed the pictures and stories. I guess what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there?
Eyma's Birthday 2007
It's hard to believe how many cakes Amy has made since Eyma's last birthday, but of course, this cake had to beat every previous attempt. This year Ames teamed up with Adrianita to make sandals and a Hawaiian shirt cake complete with brown sugar sand and molded chocolates.
Kitchen Remodel Week7 & 8
The progress hasn't been quite as fast over the last couple weeks as we've been taking time off for birthday parties and our anniversary, but it's still moving along. Now that we have the cabinets in place we're starting to fill them up.
Kitchen Remodel Week5 & 6
During the 5th week into our remodel, our friends Josh and Erica came up from Florida to visit with their two kids - Silas and Louise. Fortunately Josh is good with drywall, so we knocked out most of the drywall work in a couple days. During the following weekend, Tom came over and helped us put in most of the cabinets.
Kitchen Remodel Week4
Week 4 was a big one. With the help of our friend Tom, we removed the rest of the old cabinets, opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room and ripped up the 4+ layers of linolium in the part of the kitchen that will get cabinets. We'll tackle the other half later.
Kitchen Remodel Week3
During the 3rd week of our remodel job, Ames and I focused on tearing out the old upper cabinets and scrapping off the old popcorn ceiling.
Pedro Josue Baby Shower
Amy's last cake before tearing out the old kitchen was an impressive one. Rather than one large cake, she made a bunch of individual-serving baby block cakes. The shower was for Pedro and Linda's baby boy - Pedro Josue.
